Barfield, consists of 220 employees across its facilities in Miami (FL), Phoenix (AZ) and Louisville (KY). Together with its sister company Aero Maintenance Group, Barfield is part of the AFI KLM E&M network, a major MRO provider. With a workforce of 14,000, AFI KLM E&M offers technical support for airlines, ranging from airframe maintenance to engine overhaul and repair and supply of components.
Barfield is a FAA and EASA Certified Repair Station offering maintenance services to major passengers, cargo and regional airlines mainly located in North, South and Central America and the Caribbean.
Barfield’s support services are organized into the following three main activities: Adaptive services, Distribution and Ground Support Test Equipment (GSTE). Barfield is also an authorized repair facility for more than 30 European and U.S. Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
More specifically, through its Airline programs division, Barfield supplies complete customized support programs for Airbus, Boeing, Regional jet and Turboprop aircraft, as well as helicopter operators. These programs support operators in need of inventory, logistics solutions, repair management programs, engineering fleet support and component reliability management.
Barfield is also a GSTE manufacturer of Air Data/Pitot Static testers, RVSM Air Data testers, APU testers, Cable Tensiometers testers, Fuel Quantity testers, Pressure testers, Nav/Comm Transponder test sets, Pitot/Static Adapters and Turbine Temperature testers.

1945: Founding of Barfield Instrument Corporation
Barfield Inc. is an aviation industry leader in instrument and avionics since James W. Barfield established the company in Miami, FL as an aircraft component repair facility in 1945. James W. Barfield, who was a visionary, quickly set the goal of quality service and satisfaction for his customers, values that are still the keystones of the company today.
1990: Aérospatiale acquires Barfield Inc.
Barfield is acquired by Aérospatiale, the French aerospace manufacturer for both civilian and military aircraft, rockets and satellites.
2000: Barfield Inc. becomes a subsidiary of EADS and opens its first fast shop in Tempe, AZ
Aérospatiale merges with Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA (CASA) of Spain and DaimlerChrysler Aerospace AG (DASA) of Germany to form the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS) and Barfield Inc. becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of EADS: EADS Sogerma Barfield Inc. The same year, a second Barfield repair facility opens in Tempe, AZ. It is the 1st "fast shop" created by the company, with aim to support America West Airlines (now known as US Airways), operating among other test equipment 2 ATEC series 6.
2003: Barfield opens its 2nd fast shop in Louisville, KY
The idea of creating a fast shop in Louisville is launched in 2000 with aim to place a shop in local proximity to UPS Airlines’ Worldport facility at Louisville International Airport in order to support its Airbus and Boeing fleets using ATEC 5000 and other automatic test equipment.
2007: Sabena technics acquires EADS Sogerma Barfield Inc.
Sabena technics, a leading independent MRO provider of services to civil and military aircraft operators, part of TAT Group, acquires EADS Sogerma. Barfield becomes “Barfield, a Sabena technics company”.
2014: AFI KLM E&M Acquires 100% of Barfield from Sabena technics
July 1st, 2014, Barfield becomes part of the AFI KLM E&M network, a major MRO provider.
